Water supply disrupted

ITANAGAR, Dec 23: The water crisis may hit Naharlagun and Nirjuli towns for the next 3 to 4 days due to breaking down of main supply line 300mm dia at Borum Village. This was informed by Public Health Engineer Department, Naharlagun Sub-Division today in a release. Breaking down of supply line was caused by ongoing Trans-Arunachal Highway works, the release said. Informing that water tankers are being engaged to mitigate the crisis, the department appealed the consumers to bear with it.

GWS rededicates Paktu Pillar

ITANAGAR, Dec 23: Galo Welfare Society  (GWS) has reconstructed and  re-dedicated the  desecrated Paktu Pillar to the All Ato Paktu Ao Welfare Society. Certificate of re-dedication was handed over by GWS president Dr. Emi Rumi  to former minister and president of AAPAWS Doi Ado.

The senior most Paktu Ao Boken Ete, Hogda Lollen and Hortum Bagra were honoured and felicitated by GWS.

All these initiatives of GWS is to further strengthen unity amongst all Galo people, the release said adding that the society’s  next step was to initiate  for  arranging   memorial  services to late Goto Yudik, who lost his life at Aalo during 9th Galo Baane Keba.

 

NCP rues pathetic condition of Pipu PHC

ITANAGAR, Dec 23: Expressing serious concern over the pathetic condition of the Pipu Primary Health Centre in East Kameng district, the state Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) has urged the authority concerned of the state government to improve the health centre and its health care delivery system.

“There are no doctors and nurses in the PHC accepting piles of expired and useless medicines,” party’s state vice president (in-charge Western Parliament) LK Yangfo said in a release. He also appealed to the local MLA to initiate for immediate maintenance of the hospital building and posting of sufficient doctors, nurses and other staff in the PHC for the welfare of the people of the area.

 

ANYA declares 24 hours Capital bandh

ITANAGAR, Dec 23: All Nyishi Youth Association (ANYA) today declared 24 hours Capital bandh on 27th December in protest against what it called failure of the state Govt to fulfill their charter of demands. Earlier ANYA had demanded for creation of Kamla and Pakke-Kessang districts, headquarters at Raga and Lemmi. The association also demanded immediate road connection between Gumto to Kimin via Dingka, Bogli, and Habia and Lora villages and from Tarasso to Balijan via Ramghat. Other demands included detection and deportation of Chakmas and Hajongs from the Nyishi inhabited areas, immediate fast track court trail of rapist and murderer of Bhalukpong and Yazali rape and murder incidents and immediate shifting of hume pipe factory from Barapani to other suitable place.  Earlier ANYA served 10 days ultimatum to the state government to readdress their demands on 10 December last.

 

DWSC conducts essay competition

ITANAGAR, Dec 23: Lower Dibang Valley District Water and Sanitation Committee (DWSC) conducted essay writing competitions on topic “My role in promotion of Water, Sanitation and Hygiene” under the Nirmal Bharat Abhiyan (NBA) among students of all in the district, including secondary, higher secondary, semi-govt and private managed on December 21.

Over 4000 students of class VIII to XII participated in the competition which was held in five higher secondary and 11 secondary schools of Lower Subansiri district to facilitate participation of more students.

Initially, the district level competition was conducted in one centre in the district headquarters and there was a limited number of student turn up for the competition.

The first, second and third position winners will be awarded on the Republic Day celebration. The first, second and third position winners of each school will also be given certificates.

The aim of conducting the competition was to involve the students in NBA, who in turn, would become ambassador in promotion of hygiene education and proper sanitary habits among rural people.

 

LS bandh on Jan 3 proposed

ITANAGAR, Dec 23:  All Arunachal Contractors’ Welfare Association Lower Subansiri District Unit (AACWALSDU) has declared a 12-hour Lower Subansiri District bandh on January 3 next as its agitation against the district administration and NCC Limited’s alleged failure to fulfill its charter of demands. The demands include immediate issuance of DPR & TS for extension of Airfield, Ziro, compensation package under CSR to the affected people, use of quality materials for construction of airfield extension work and clean drive to check Inner Line Permit (ILP) within Lower Subansiri district.

 

AKKDSU urges for better infrastructure in schools

ITANAGAR, Dec 23:  In its educational tour under Phassang circle in Kurung Kumey district, All Kurung Kumey District Students Union (AKKDSU) visited various schools recently and assessed the difficulties faced by the students.  The educational tour was led by its general secretary Phassang Raish along with various executive members. In its report union claimed that most of the schools in the circle were plagued with common problems such as shortage of teachers, poor infrastructure, teacher absenteeism and lack of road connectivity and  lack of staff quarters etc.  Taking serious note to various problems faced by the students and schools, the union urged the district administration to take action against the absentee teachers. It also demanded to provide required infrastructures in the schools. The union further appealed to all the government officials to remain at the posting places to discharge their duties.  During the programme a meeting was also held at Phassang which was attended by students and panchayat leaders.

ITANAGAR, Dec 23: All Down Polo Colony Youth Welfare Association (ADPCYWA) conducted a social service  to keep their colony neat and clean on December 22 last. The Association extended its gratitude to All Nyishi Youth Association for extending support to the social service.

 

Union voices against bogus  voters

ITANAGAR, Dec 23:  Opposing the alleged excess enrolment of voters during the summary revision of 19th Nyapin Assembly Constituency, Nyapin Nyobia Sangram Phassang Students Union (NNSPSU) stated it would not tolerate such kind of activities.  Reacting at reported inclusion of non-APSTs in electoral rolls, the union made it clear saying persons who attempt to create proxy voter lists would be held responsible for untoward incident near future. It also opposed any move to issue temporary inner line pass (ILP) during the hearing process and requested the authority to halt the ILP till the completion of the hearing. The union further maintained that inclusion of fake voters was the reason which resulted burning down of electoral roll at Hawa Camp recently.

 

APBOCWWB meet held

ITANAGAR, Dec 23: Eleventh Board meeting of Arunachal Pradesh Building & Other Constructions Workers Welfare Board was (APBOCWWB) held here today and discussed regarding various welfare schemes and benefits to be provided to the registered workers of the Board.

Chairing the meeting, APB&OCWWB chairman Jalley Sonam informed that till today there are around 12,000 registered workers under the Board and still there are thousands to be registered which could not be done mainly due to lack of man power. He regretted about non payment of 1 percent cess by BSNL despite repeated request.

Board members present in the meeting have approved for intensive awareness campaigns through multi, print and electronic media to make the people aware of the benefits being provided by the Board. They also approved for immediate implementation of various schemes within January 2014.

Pawan Hans resumes helicopter service in Tawang

TAWANG, Dec 23:  Pawan Hans Helicopters Ltd (PHHL) resumed its passenger services between Naharlagun, Guwahati and Tawang after a gap of 31 months.

The service will operate twice a week (Monday & Friday) between Naharlagun, Guwahati and Tawang.

The Deputy Commissioner Tawang Abhishek Dev along with Zilla Parishad Chairperson Jambey Tsering, Commander 190 Mtn Brigade Brig. Ashok Singh, ADC Tawang Dr. Tariq Thomas and a host of other dignitaries received the crew members and the passengers of the inaugural flight at the Ugyen Sanpo Heliport Tawang.

Lauding Chief Minister Nabam Tuki and the Parliamentary Secy Civil Aviation Jambey Tashi for recommencing the chopper services, ZPC Tawang Jambey Tsering said, “Due to lack of a dedicated passenger helicopter service for last 2 years, the common denizens of the district had been facing lots of hardship. The resumption of chopper service (by the PHHL) has come as a great relief to the people of the district.”

Deputy Commissioner Tawang Abhishek Dev stated that with the resumption of the helicopter services the inflow of tourists in the district will increase which will give a boost to the local economy. He further added that the services will also come as a relief to the residents of the district suffering from major ailments who earlier had to cover long distance by road to get treatment.

A special prayer was also performed at the Heliport today by the monks from the Tawang Monastery for safe and smooth operation of flights.

The Pawan Hans helicopter services in the district had remained suspended from May 5, 2011 following two back-to-back crashes of its choppers in that year.  In the first accident on April 19, 2011, the MI-172 helicopter with 23 persons on board flying on the Guwahati-Tawang sector crashed at Tawang helipad while landing killing 17 persons, while the other occurred at Luguthang near Tawang on April 30, 2011 had claimed the lives of five, including the then Chief Minister Dorjee Khandu.

It is to be mentioned here that the state government had resumed the PHHL chopper services in the state in January 2013 which was flagged off by Chief Minister Nabam Tuki at Naharlagun helipad. However, the services had been introduced only for eastern sectors in Naharlagun-Guwahati and Naharlagun-Mohanbari. DIPRO

 

 

Experts on Lower Subansirihydro project rule out disaster

ITANAGAR, Dec 23: The group of experts appointed by central government on 2000 MW Subansiri Lower Project in Arunachal Pradesh today played down the fear and apprehension that the dam could lead to a catastrophe.

The Expert to Expert meeting held between Expert Group of Assam and Government of India consisting officials from CWC, CSMRS New Delhi, CWPRS Pune and GSI at Guwahati discussed in details about safety of the dam and its downstream impacts/issues.

Prof. BP Duarah made a detailed presentation covering important aspects like seismotectonics, earthquake, geological conditions and PGA value adopted for Subansiri Lower Project.

Responding to comments of Prof. Duarah, Dr J R Kayal, former Deputy Director General of GSI explained that the possible sources of great earthquakes in Himalaya are of deeper origin/source.

Dr. ID Gupta, former Director of CWPRS, Pune explained the response spectrum in the design and safety analysis of dams and said that the dam is safe even for PGA value of 0.5g.

S.K. Sibal, Director (Design), CWC with the help of design analysis claimed that even the earlier dam section was safe for PGA of 0.5g based on response spectra. He informed that the modification adopted in the dam design, as proposed by DDRP, shall take care of the weak properties of the foundation material. He further clarified that the dam section proposed earlier are safe as far as their dynamic stability is concerned.

The Expert Group was assured that the finalized measures and analysis will be shared in full details for their study.

The concern of experts regarding fluctuation of river levels in downstream was jointly analyzed by CWC and expert group members.

The Expert Group proposed a regulating structure in the downstream coupled with irrigation benefits for the people living in the downstream. This was appreciated by the Expert team. Since this involves planning, investigation and detailing of the proposal by other organizations like water resources department of Assam, Brahmaputra Board and CWC, the dialogue will be initiated for taking up the proposal at the Government level in this regard.

 

 

BJP demands development of border area

ITANAGAR, Dec 23: The state unit of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has demanded the State Government to frame a need-based policy to improve the living condition of people residing along China border.

The people living at Gelling under Tuting sub-division of Upper Siang and Malni, the last defence outpost in Dibang Valley district have been facing hardships due to lack proper health care facility, education, surface as well as tele-communications and irregular power supply, the party spokesman Techi Necha said in a release.

A BJP team recently visited Gelling and Malni as part of its on-going 'Sarhad ko Pranam Yatra' to review the ground reality of border areas of the state.

The party demanded the State Government to immediately post medical officer at Gelling sub-health centre, establish sub-health centre at Malni and install BSNL tower in between Malni and Etalin in Dibang valley district and also at Janbo village in Migging administrative circle headquarter in Upper Siang district.

 

 

Agriculture awareness meeting at Sille

RUKSIN, Dec 23: To make the rural farmers aware on the various central Govt- sponsored schemes in the filed of agriculture and role of PRIs in its implementation, the District Agriculture department of East Siang conducted an awareness meeting at its Sille-Oyan office today.

Addressing the participants, Agriculture Development Officer (ADO) Megha Nath Bori highlighted on various aspects of the agricultural schemes with special reference to National Food Security Mission (NFSM). He said that the central government has taken some special steps to boost the production of food grain in the country by adopting modern scientific techniques.

While explaining the methods of System of Rice Intensification (SRI), Soil testing and pest management, the ADO urged the farmers to avoid indiscriminate use of chemical fertilizer/pesticide as these have adverse affect on the ecosystems. He suggested them to select “improved” and “duly treated” seed in their rice cultivation to gain good production. The ADO also urged the farmers to keep contact with the Field Workers for solution to their problems.

Earlier, welcoming the participants, senior Field Assistant (Agril) T Talom requested the farmers to collect the seeds and other agriculture inputs (supplied under NFSM) in time. He informed that seeds of improved variety of rice @ 25-30 kg per beneficiary and potato seeds have already been distributed for this year, which has been successfully harvested.

The programme was followed by a “Farmer-Expert interaction”, wherein the farmers have raised their problems faced in the agricultural activities.

The day-long awareness meeting was attended by more than 50 rural farmers including the PRI leaders from five villages fall under the block. The participants also distributed Improvised Sprayer Machine and herbicide on the occasion.

The schematic provisions of NSFM facilitate demonstration of improved packages and practices of rice and wheat, SRI and improved varieties.

The cluster demonstration will be collaboratively conducted by the state department of agriculture, SAU, ICAR institutions and Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVK) and reputed NGOs.

The centrally sponsored schemes under integrated Cereal Development Programme (ICDP) for rice/wheat will be discontinue in the identified district, if the schemes under NFSM becomes fully operational.

The NFSM is being implemented by the district level committee led by the deputy commissioner wherein the district agriculture officer (DAO) is member secretary.

 

 

Stapled visas, boundary dispute kept Arunachal in news in 2013

Itanagar, Dec 23: Incursion by Chinese troops, stapled visas, refugees, permanent residence certificates and boundary dispute with Assam were some of the issues that grabbed headlines in Arunachal Pradesh in 2013.

In a face-off, People Liberation Army (PLA) troops intruded more than 20 km inside the Indian territory in Changlagam area of Arunachal’s Anjaw district in August and stayed for over two days.

The issue evoked widespread reaction in the state with Chief Minister Nabam Tuki condemning it in the floor of the Assembly. The apex students’ union - All Arunachal Pradesh Students? Union (AAPSU) also staged several protest rallies.

Arunachal Pradesh also raised the stapled visa issue with the Centre through Union Minister of State for Minority Affairs Ninong Ering during the year.

Two young women archers from the state could not participate in the Youth World Archery Championship at Wuxi as they were issued stapled Chinese visas. Immigration officials at Delhi’s IGI Airport stopped Mihu Maselo and Yumi Sorang from boarding a China Southern Airlines flight to Guangzhou on October 10.

There was lot of anguish over the issue and it was raised by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh during his talks with Chinese Premier Li Keqiang in Beijing. But there was not much forward movement on the issue.

China also reacted to President Pranab Mukherjee’s maiden visit to the state on November, saying it “hoped India would refrain from actions that complicate the boundary question”.

During his address to the special session of the state Assembly, Mukherjee termed Arunachal as an “integral and important part” of the country.

The  Chakma and Hajong refugee issue also hogged the limelight in the state during the year.

The AAPSU along with the state government constituted a joint high power committee which carried out a joint survey in the refugee concentrated areas in Tirap, Changlang and Papum Pare during August.

Opposing tooth and nail the state government’s decision to grant PRCs to non-Arunachalees, the AAPSU launched a vigorous movement on the issue during the year.

The stalemate between Arunachal and Assam over boundary dispute continued during the year. The Supreme Court constituted Local Boundary Commission visited the disputed areas in the inter-state boundary during November to take stock of the ground realities.

In a blow to the Mamata Banerjee-led Trinamool Congress which made its entry into the state’s electoral politics in 2009 by winning five assembly seats, its state unit with lone MLA Laeta Umbrey merged with People’s Party of Arunachal (PPA) on April 10. Earlier in October 2012, four Trinamool legislators joined the Congress in the state. The state unit of the party was also dissolved after the merger.

Former MLAs Donglo Sonam and Lobsang Tsering and former ministers Wangnia Pongte, Niani Natung and Indrajit Namchoom died during the year.

Congress nominee Gum Tayeng elected unopposed from Dambuk Assembly constituency after her husband and sitting MLA Jomin Tayeng died on May 7.

Lt Gen (Retd) Nirbhay Sharma was sworn in as the 15th governor of the state on May 29 last after retirement of Gen (Retd) J J Singh.

The year did not seem to be a smooth one for two Congress legislators who had to face the wrath of law.

While CBI registered a criminal case against MLA Phurpa Tsering from Dirang in August on charge of anomalies in land acquisition and payment of compensation for the Trans Arunachal Highway project, Parliamentary Secretary for Tax & Excise Lokam Tassar was arrested in December for his alleged involvement in snatching and burning of E-roll documents.

The demand for creation of Mon and Patkai Autonomous District Councils (ADCs) also intensified in the state during the year.

The law and order situation remained grim during the year with a large number of cases of abduction, murder and dacoity reported. At least 20 cases of atrocities against women were also reported.

Natural calamity and epidemic claimed over 100 people while several buildings, roads and bridges were washed away in massive floods that hit the state.

In sports, Tame Bagang, a SSB head constable, became the fifth person from the state to scale the Mount Everest in May, while Anshu Jamsenpa and Tina Mena successfully scaled the Bara Shigri Glacier, the second largest in the world in August.

The foundation stone was laid for establishment of the National Institute of Mountaineering and Allied Sports (NIMAS) at Dirang in West Kameng district in October.

The state government adopted the new sports policy while Rerading Football Club (RFC) of England inked MoU with the state government for grooming soccer talent in the state.

Described as the future power house of India, Arunachal Pradesh with a hydropower potential of over 50,000 MW, witnessed mass protest against power projects in the state.

While the 2x30 kw Ashapani micro hydel project was commissioned in remote Anjaw district, the state government scrapped seven power projects with installed capacity of 1,258 MW with the power developers due to non-performance and breach of agreement as per the MoUs.

Several anti-dam organisations opposed three proposed mega projects in the Siang belt (East, West and Upper Siang districts) with a total installed capacity of 12, 450 mw, while All Galo Students’ Union and Siang Bachao Federation opposed the public hearing for environmental clearance of 186 mw Tato-I project at Mechuka.

The state government also approved creation of four new districts.

Efforts to make Dangoria Baba mela a favourate tourist destination

East Siang district with its natural beauty, rich historical background and the tradition and culture  could become a one of the  most sought-after tourist destinations in Arunachal Pradesh. Apart from being revenue spinner the spiritual tourism in East Siang can play a vital role in promoting social harmony and cultural values.

Keeping an eye on the spiritual tourism in the district and the ensuring “Bura Dangoria Baba Mela”, which becomes an annual event, the East Siang district administration has come with a conclusion that it has all potentials to become a hotspot for spiritual tourism and therefore decided to promote this event nationwide to attract tourists from within the country and abroad.

Accordingly, local administration without any government fund is upgrading the tourist infrastructures to provide adequate facilities to the visitors.

Such initiative would not only bring East Siang in national tourism map, it would also boost rural economy and help reduce the unemployment problems to some extent.

Reportedly special bus services to mela site, temporary ILPs (valid for 3 days) at entry check-gates are being arranged and publicity campaign have already been undertaken (both within and outside the state) to attract tourists.

Famous Dangoria Baba Puja is celebrated on the last Saturday of December every year and thousands of devotees and tourists from different parts of the country throng here to offer puja to Lord Shiva, Goddess Parvati, Ganesha and Nandi. A mela is being organized near the temple on the occasion which is a major attraction of the celebration.  

According to Mandir committee, devotees/visitors are increasing every year and last year about forty thousands visitors across the country thronged to the shrine.

East Siang is a land of festivals but we have to think bigger for formulating long term policy to harness the tourism potentials of the district in maximum. We have to emphasize on package tour(s) comprising multiple events like water-rafting, archery, citrus shows, Anglo-Abhor war memorials, museums, monuments, parks, traditional and cultural festivals to draw more tourists. We should keep in mind that for promotion of tourism in right way good road connectivity and tourist infrastructure like good hotels, restaurants, taxies, guides and security and good road connectivity are  essential. We must ensure that tourists face no difficulties while visiting the district and  they return their home with  a desire to visit the  district again and again.

ITANAGAR, Dec 23: A delegation of the Arunachal Pradesh Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Mahila Morcha led by Morcha president Padmeswari Jamoh took part in Mahila Morcha national executive meeting at Karnal, Haryana on December 21.

Consumer awareness campaign at Raga

ITANAGAR, Dec 23: The Department of Legal Metrology and Consumer Affairs, Ziro organized a day-long consumer awareness campaign at Raga recently.

Attending programme, Raga ADC Hage Ruja suggested the consumers to know their rights under the Consumer Protection Act, 1986. He requested the nodal department to put efforts to protect the consumers against unfair, deceptive, or fraudulent practices by creating awareness about their rights.

Raga Anchal Samity chairperson Kina Taper appealed to the consumers to cooperate with the department for redressal of consumers’ grievances.

Debia Tana, Inspector LM&CA, Ziro, highlighted the aims and objective of the campaign.

Later, he demonstrated how common consumer can be saved from unfair, deceptive or fraudulent practices. He also dwelt at length about the provisions under Consumer Protection Act 1986. He also gave a brief report on consumer cases settled by District Consumer Dispute Redressal Forum, Ziro. He appealed every citizen to extend support for protection and promotion of consumer rights and interest.

Lower Subansiri district unit president of All Arunachal Pradesh Consumer Association president Koj Tassang appealed to the citizen to fight against unscrupulous business while Raga Bazar Welfare Committee chairman Lungku Bugi requested the traders to comply with trading rules and regulations.

Raga ASM Kabak Chibi and GB Kabak Jirjo also spoke on the occasion.

Consumer related items like package commodities, weights and measures, LPG cylinder were displayed and consumer education posters, banners, booklets/ pamphlets were displayed for consumer awareness.

Panchayat leaders, officers and officials, representatives from Bazar Welfare Committee, traders and public attended the programme.

Woes of Milanpur area

Dear Editor,

As a citizen of Milanpur village under Kharsang administrative circle of Changlang district, I would like to place a few words in your esteemed daily. This is regarding the major problems being faced in day to day live by local people, office staffs, teachers and students of area. Poor power supply, lack of village link road and sanitation in the rural area of Milanpur, Ratnapur and Golokpur is posing serious problem.

The distance between Milanpur and Kharsang town is very far. In monsoon season, we have to cross more than 4 or 5 small river to reach Kharsang town. Particularly the pregnant women, senior citizens and infant faces very hard time while crossing such river. Therefore, I implore to head of the Department/Minister/MLA/ZPM/ASM as a whole may kindly extend their help before rainy season creates havoc for the rural people.

Hindutva’s negative impact in North East

Dear Editor,

Hinduism as a way of life gels with the tribal’s of North East and Arunachal in Particular. But the concept of Hindutva as propounded and expounded by RSS and VHP is certainly not in harmony with the tribal spirit of life and existence. Since the tribal’s of whichever faith in Arunachal, are by and large found of cow slaughtering and beef eating, the hindutva ideology which is anti cow slaughtering will badly impact into the secular food habits of the tribal’s. Also, since the tribal’s do not have caste system based on concept of purity and pollution, therefore, the hierarchy of caste system like Brahmins, Kshatriyas, Vaishyas and Shudras are likely to impact negatively on the tribal’s . It is also a known fact that the tribals of North East States, particularly the Meities of Manipur, who have taken Hinduism as their faith and also the caste system through the process of sanskritization, do face numerous interactional problems vis-a-vis the mainstream Hindu societies. Since their mongoloid racial origin is distinctly different, therefore they are often leveled as backward Hindus. The former BJP MP Khiren Rijiju while joining into Congress had once stated that “BJPs Hindutva ideology had a very negative impact in the Northeast where its relevance was almost negligible”. He further went on to say that “the BJP’s Hindutva campaign had a very negative impact in the North East region with a dominant minority population. Hindutva failed to cut much ice among the people in the region.” Now that the propagation of Hindutva ideology has been given in the dictatorial hands of Narendra Modi, known for his dictatorial handling of issues, the tribals of North East and Arunachal in Particular have to be extra cautious in preserving and promoting their culture and identity. The real threat however is the chance of lifting the Inner Line Regulation Act of 1873 and forceful imposition of Hydro power project policies framed by BJP led Govt in 2002 on Arunachalees, all in the name of national integration and aggressive nation building.

All said and done, the voters of the secular, democratic and highly pluralistic societies of Arunachal Pradesh have the onus of distinguishing between the pseudo secular party like the Congress or the highly RSS backed communal party like the BJP.

Election promises remains promise only

Dear Editor,

I support Samuel Padung and Tapang Talom's letter. It’s true that Ruksin-Mikong-Mirem road is in very bad condition. In Arunachal Pradesh there are so many roads which get renovated, but said road has been totally neglected for decades.

Local people suffer a lot. But they have no platform to express their views. I heard that there are many intellectual people who belong from this area, but ray of intellectual is totally absent.

If I am not wrong said road, would be election manifesto in forth coming state assembly election. Every candidate would promise for development of RMM road.

I request all the elected members, local people, student unions, concern authority to look into the matter as soon as possible.

Let us vote for ‘right candidate’

Dear Editor,

This time around, the assembly election 2014 should bring a huge change in our society only because today we have many educated people who can guide their parents to vote for the right candidate among many.

Till now we give preference to our relationship than issues to choose our candidate in the general election. This kind of choosing candidate is totally wrong and it is harmful for overall development of our society and state as a whole. Such method of selecting candidate might help a few sidekicks of MLA but community as a whole would be adversely affected.

Today we have many social problems like unemployment, robbery, corruption and non completion of some important project. Who is going to fix these problems, only our right government can do it? If this time we fail to select a right government then for next five years we have to be sorry for our choice. So why we should cry for good five years, we must vote a right candidate in this assembly and MP election 2014.

It is a mammoth task to know who will be right candidate because today there is a scarcity of good people who can actually have no greed for money and power. In democracy out of many wrong candidates we are bound to select one so make choice by selecting lesser corrupt one.

Jan Lok Pal bill has been passed in the parliament and very soon it will be implemented in Arunachal too, but if this time we make wrong government in our state then Lokayukta will become joke in our state and we will lose all our teeth to bite off a chunk of meat from corrupt people. So this time around we being educated people must take oath to be more responsive to our society and help our beautiful state to become develop in all sphere.

Don’t play with fire

In a report which sends chilling warning to New Delhi, around 20 Chinese soldiers last week entered inside Indian Territory near the LAC and pitched their tents in Chepzi area of Ladakh. It is believed that around 20-22 Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) soldiers had last week pitched around 8-10 tents in the west of Chepzi. However as usual the Army headquarters insisted there was no such incident in that area. Perhaps army is trying to save its face from humiliation.

Chinese incursion along LAC has considerably increased this year. In April this year, Chinese troops had entered 19 km inside Indian Territory in the Daulat Beg Oldi sector and left the place only after long negotiations and a series of flag meetings between the two sides. Chinese also forayed inside Arunachal territory at Chaglagam area under Anjaw district.  Their constant claim over whole of Arunachal and Tawang district in particularly is well known. The Chinese have given utmost importance to infrastructure development of border areas and are way ahead of India in this regard. The central government is playing with fire by not showing any interest for development of border areas of Arunachal Pradesh. The political bosses and babus sitting at New Delhi have to understand that just by releasing fund for development  of border area their duty does not end. They have to ensure proper utilization of fund. Unless concern authorities are held responsible, border areas of Arunachal will never develop, which in the long run will pose serious national security threat.
